My soul thirsts for the living God

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Mysterious God, Word beyond words. You hide in the ancient rocks and lie still in a red dust land. You play in the cosmos and dance with the stars. You are one with us to share our lives, in our joys, our sorrows. You step out before us to fulfil our dreams. Pilgrim God, we speak many languages, we share many cultures, we sing many songs;

Together we seek to be your church in this place,

Companion on the way! Robert Hoskin/adapted

Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came....... for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. Paul is talking about a new ‘movement’ of being..... We are all to some extent subject to our past and to the routine of our culture... For us Anglicans we are also shaped by our tradition and the orthodoxy of the Doctrines of our heritage... And yet within the law and discipline of our past we also experience a thirst....

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. And this thirst draws us into growth beyond the confines of the past… into a new beginning and a new becoming… and into the reality that we are the Body of Christ. It is a movement that we will seek to draw on as we come together for our Annual General Meeting and look to what has brought us to this place and also to where we will go from here. "Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you."

a sound of sheer silence

This is where Elijah found the Lord
Here he heard the Divine Word
We might seek that same place

Sheer silence: for those who wish to spend time before the service in silent contemplation, the chapel will be available from 9.00am each Sunday.

“There is nothing so much like God as silence”
Meister Eckhart

“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” We are all too familiar with the call to “Follow Me”, but today we hear in the Old Testament reading an equally important aspect of our call… that is to declare our thanks giving in our homes…

The Eucharist (Holy Communion) gives us a very tangible sense of the sacred - it is not to be contained however within the walls and confines of the Church.

Rather the glimpse of eternity, of divine love that we receive Sunday by Sunday, we are asked to take with us as we leave, and so to know in every aspect of our lives that “all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” +++++++++++++++++++

The Elm Dance

After the choir sings the postlude on Sunday morning, those who wish to join in “The Elm Dance” gather in the circle dance area outside the church before going up to coffee in the hall. The Elm Dance

There is nothing in all the Universe so much like God as silence.

Sacred Space, Liturgy & our Community @ Worship
As we seek to offer our best in worship these guidelines may be helpful.

1. Silence before worship enables us to be ‘gathered’ into the introit sung by the choir
2. Conversations with others are often our way of avoiding those more divine words that search for us.
3. The sanctuary ‘space’ is ‘held’ by those who lead our worship, please keep to a minimum any movement in this ‘space’ and, at the end of our service, please wait until the choir have finished singing before entering.
4. NOTICES are an important part of our community story… however please use the service sheet to convey notices so that we can minimise the number that have to be given in church.

We meditate on the glory of the Creator;
Who has created the Universe;
Who is worthy of Worship;
Who is the embodiment of Knowledge and Light;
Who is the remover of all Sin and Ignorance;
May The Divine enlighten our Intellect.
