Our parish is a community that seeks God and the fullness of creation by finding ourselves in relation to others. Our giving to the common, to the other, our sharing of ourselves is our commitment to this endeavour.

ST PAUL’S Anglican Church in Beaconsfield plans to rebuild the eastern end of the beautiful 100-year old church in a major capital works project announced this month.

The announcement by the parish council to replace the cracked inner eastern wall and the existing weatherboard area behind the sanctuary and replace the roof of the church has come after much deliberation within the community.

To date over $100,000 has been pledged by the community with an estimated $200,000 still to be raised. An application has been lodged with Lotterywest to help finance the project. The community is also seeking financial support from local businesses and the community.

The recently restored Church Hall at the rear of the Church is used by numerous community groups and thousands of individuals during the year.
The planned renovations of the church take into consideration the connection between the two buildings and their interactions.

Concept drawings have been completed by architect and parishioner Graham Kershaw in consultation with the parish council and community.

The plans include construction of a small prayer chapel and vestry area, renovation of the eastern wall which is cracked and replacement of the asbestos roof. Consideration is also being given to putting solar panels on the new roof as a response to climate change issues.

The existing nave and sanctuary will remain largely unchanged with the focus on the altar in its present position.

The beauty of the gardens at St Paul’s which link the church and the hall will be factored into the construction.
