God of Life Divine,
We give thanks for the gift of Faith and the passion for Life
that is revealed in your Divine Word.
In the Spirit of Christ we shall run with perseverance
the race that is set before us.
Growing forever in your creative Love and
being perfected by the forgiveness of your creative promise.
Through Christ your perfection and your treasure, revealed in all.
Amen.
Prayers from Alison Kershaw
Pray with thanks for God’s abundant and creative giving; give thanks for every opportunity we have to tend the vine and the vineyard…
Pray for those who follow the ritual of Ramadan that they may be refreshed in their faith and we might share in their refreshment.
Pray that we can share our race with others and together create new life; that by our words and actions we may bring Christ to each other and see Christ in each other.
Pray that we will attend to the Divine in all Life seeking that which is good for benefit of all. Pray with thanks for the Divine Spirit – the gift of Christ that abides in us. Give thanks for each other, for all that we have to share and for opportunities to give and to receive.
Pray our Elders and our young members - and give thanks for all who create a sense of community and give us confidence to look forward with faith and hope.
Pray for families in crisis, that God’s love will arise and give life - And for refugees who experience the struggle and desire for new life.
Pray for all whose peace is disturbed by the noise of war. Give thanks for all that you are and all that you have and for opportunities to give to others. Give thanks for the Divine fullness that we glimpse as we share together in worship….
Jesus, You came to bring fire to the earth : oh how we wish it were already kindled
How much the earth has endured at the hands of humanity : we pray for migratory birds returning to shrinking wetlands ; sea creatures caught in oil slicks and plastic debris ; species on the point of extinction
How we pray for the restoration of denuded lands, exhausted rivers and polluted seas.
We are thankful for the holy heartbeat that persists and survives : for the whales returning to calve in our waters ; for birds that adapt to urban life ; for the gradual repair of the ozone layer.
Kindle our love for the whole chain of creation, make us impatient of complacency so we may interpret and respond to the urgent challenges of the present time.
Jesus, You came to bring fire to the earth : oh how we wish it were already kindled
How much humanity has endured at the hands of humanity ; How we pray for peace ; and for the power to discern when it is necessary to create division, to oppose, resist or struggle.
How much humanity has suffered through disaster and how we pray for relief for those who have lost homes, livelihoods and loved ones.
Enflame our faith in humanity, make us impatient for justice so we may interpret and respond to the pressing needs of the present time.
Jesus, You came to bring fire to the earth : oh how we wish it were already kindled
How much the church has endured at the hands of humanity ; and how much humanity has endured at the hands of the church
How we wish to perfect the faith you have pioneered ; we give thanks for those who kindle your flame – for revolutionary thinkers, radical prophets, and passionate reformers.
Enflame our faith in the way of the spirit, make us impatient of hypocrisy so we may respond to the crucial questions of the present time.
Jesus, You came to bring fire to the earth : oh how we wish it were already kindled
How much we have endured at the hands of one another ; how often we have failed to respect and honour and cherish one another ; How much we have borne alone.
As we bring the needs of others into our thoughts, join our hearts so we may conquer all pain and difficulty together ; so we may grow in faith and strength and happiness and kindle the divine fire that consumes fear and self-doubt
Enflame our hearts with faith in one another, make us impatient for love so we may interpret and respond in the present to messages of the heart.
We give thanks for those departed souls who have run the race before us, who endured and suffered much, who overcame, won and created much ; We give thanks that we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, that we may lay aside every constriction and run our own race with energising impatience for the joy that is set before us.
Jesus, You came to bring fire to the earth : oh how we wish it were already kindled
A Thanksgiving for Wilderness
Creator God, we thank you that you show your face to us in wilderness and desert places.
We praise you for the deep places of the sea, and for coastlines smashed by surf and caressed by gentle waves.
We praise you for the sun-baked, wind-swept lands, and for rocks and mountains older than human memory.
We praise you for the rivers that sculpt the plains, and for salt lakes that wait for the blessing of times of flooding.
We praise you for the fragile life that flourishes in places too hot, too cold, or too dry for human comfort, and for forests rising through tropical rain and cool southern mist.
We thank you for showing your glory in creation to the first people of Australia, and for their long and careful custody of the land.
We thank you for new ways of protecting the land so that future generations may also rejoice in your handiwork.
Give us grace to recognise your wonders in the dust at our feet and the haze on the horizon, and in all the creatures you have made, in their astonishing diversity.
And give us voices to praise you in awe and gratitude, both now and for evermore. Amen

A Sesquicentenary Prayer
Lord of all generations
Bless our celebration of 150 years of ministry with the Diocese of Perth.
We give thanks for those whose dedication and vision enabled the foundation and development of this diocese.
Guide those of us now entrusted with this responsibility.
Encourage us and give us the commitment, enthusiasm and inspiration we need.
May we have breadth of vision and generosity that will enable us to provide a solid foundation of faith for future generations.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Daily Prayer from Perth Anglican Diocese See left hand column
Prayer in the tradition of St Paul
Creator of Life, of light and all Love, we pray thee
to fill this house with thy Spirit.
Here may the strong renew their strength and seek
for their working lives a noble consecration.
Here may the poor find succour and the friendless
friendship.
Here may the tempted find power, the sorrowing
comfort and the bereaved find the truth that death
hath no dominion over their beloved.
Here let the fearing find a new courage and the
doubting have their faith and hope confirmed.
Here may the careless be awakened and all that are
oppressed be freed.
Hither may many be drawn by thy love and go
hence, their doubts resolved and faith renewed,
their sins forgiven and their hearts aflame with thy
love.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
From the Chapel porch, Pleshey Retreat House, with amended
divine address.
